- FREEWARE NOTICE
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- RATSoft/ST Local Download Script is Freeware. It may be copied and used
- freely. I take no responsibility whatsoever for this program, you are
- entirely on your own if you intend to use it. However, I have taken
- precautions in order to make it as reliable, stable and harmless as
- possible and find it really hard to believe that it would be able to
- destroy or mess something up.
-
- Despite the fact that this program is Freeware, and you have no obligations
- at all towards me, I would appreciate any feedback at all. To contact me
- take a look at the end of this document. Thank you!

- OVERVIEW
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- RATSoft/ST Local Download Script is a script written in RAT-Script for use
- with the RATSoft/ST BBS system. It makes it possible to download marked
- files by copying them to an optional path when you are in local mode.
-
- How many times have you been forced to exit RATSoft/ST or execute a file
- copier utility just because you wanted to transfer some files from the
- RATSoft/ST file areas to diskettes? Now there is a much more easier way to
- do this, just install The RATSoft/ST Local Download Script on your system.
- Next time you are in local mode and choose Download in the RATSoft/ST File
- Sections Menu you will be prompted for a path where all the marked files
- will be copied to.
-
-

-
- SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- This script requires an Atari computer running RATSoft/ST v2.1 or higher
- from R0dent Laboratories Software. It might also work with earlier versions
- of RATSoft/ST, but there is no guarantee as it has only been fully
- tested on v2.1.
-
-
- INSTALLING AND USING THE RATSOFT/ST LOCAL DOWNLOAD SCRIPT
- ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Installing the script is very easy. Just follow the instructions below and
- there should be no problems at all.
-
- 1. Copy both the script files (LOCALDL.SCP and INIT_LDL.SCP) to your
- RATSoft/ST main directory, where most of the other system files are
- located. The path usually is C:\RATSOFT\.
-
- 2. Now you need to edit the FILECMDS.DAT file (located in the RATSoft/ST
- main directory) to make RATSoft/ST able to execute the script if you
- are in local mode.
-
- The line you need to edit probably looks something like this:
-
- D;Download...<CR>[fd/l]
-
- Replace the line with this new one:
-
- D;Download...<CR>[~loc][exec:INIT_LDL][exec:LOCALDL][term][~lev:0][fd/l]
-
- The <CR> is a "Carrier Return" character (ASCII #13), you can get it on
- the screen by holding [ALTERNATE] and typing in 13 on the numerical
- keyboard in the most of the available text editors.
-
- 3. Finally you have to reload RATSoft/ST to make it aware of your changes
- in the the FILECMDS.DAT file. It can be done by entering the SysOp
- Commands Menu and pressing the <C> key (Re-Load Configuration)
- and the <A> key. (All Files).
-
- Congratulations, you should now have a working copy of The RATSoft/ST Local
- Download Script installed on your system. It will be executed next time you
- are in local mode and chose Download in the File Sections Menu.
- If you have any file(s) marked for download you will be prompted for a path
- where to copy the file(s). If you select a path that does not exists, it
- will be created. Press [RETURN] and the last entered path will be used.
- On this screen you will also find information on how many files that are
- marked and how much free space that is needed on the destination drive.
-
- If you select a destination drive which does not have enough free
- space available you will be notified about this. This is useful if you are
- copying files directly to diskettes as it is not very funny when you get
- messages like "Disk full" or "Not Enough Space" after you have been waiting
- for 2 minutes.
-
- I have also included error checking when selecting a path, so it should be
- very hard (probably not impossible though) to enter an invalid path without
- the script discovering it. If an invalid path is entered, you will be
- notified and prompted for a new one.
-
- When a valid destination path have been selected a prompt will now show up
- that makes it possible for you to change your mind.
-
- Are you sure? [Y/n/q]
-
- Here it is possible to select a new destination path by pressing <N>o.
- <Q>uit will exit the script and take you back to RATSoft/ST. If everything
- seems to be in order, try <Y>es or [RETURN] to go on.
-
- If the destination directory is not empty, you will end up with another
- prompt:
-
- Warning! Destination directory is not empty.
- Do you want to delete the existing file(s) in the directory? [y/N/v/q]
-
- If you want to delete the existing files, press <Y>es, otherwise press <N>o
- or [RETURN] to continue without deleting any files. If you want to check
- which the existing files are, press <V>iew, and finally <Q>uit will take
- exit the script and take you back to RATSoft/ST
-
- I wish you good luck with your BBS operating, and I hope this small script
- will help you make the system management a little bit easier.
